STUFF is about living a life filled with ARTistry and...
ART ROCKS!
Casey and Sloane
Sisters in pursuit of good stuff
...at STUFF everyone is family.

the STUFF story

STUFF is a store dedicated to artists and the people who collect art for their homes and themselves...and give art as gifts. They offer work by local, regional, national and international artists that create one-of-a-kind, handmade, original, unique, inspirational, clever, artistic, innovative, eclectic and witty collectible, decorative and usable art.

STUFF is located in Kansas City, Missouri (a few blocks from Mission Hills, Kansas) in a neighborhood called Brookside. Brookside was established in 1920 as one of Kansas City's treasured neighborhood shopping districts and still remains one of the city's most cherished neighborhoods. Brookside is filled with lovely, authentic homes, shops and service businesses. STUFF occupies a brick storefront that was built as a bank when Brookside was established. The "STUFF Sisters", Casey & Sloane, share an office that was one of the original bank vaults. STUFF is literally a "brick and mortar" store.

Casey and Sloane

Since STUFF began in the late 1990s, it has grown into one of the most well-known and respected businesses in Kansas City. STUFF now offers work from over 300 hundred artistic sources. STUFF has grown into a global business online with their shopping website at shop.pursuegoodstuff.com.

The co-owners are the creative force behind the STUFF brand and the PURSUE GOOD STUFF lifestyle, and they offer professional business and creative consulting both directly to clients and through seminars, classes, and Q&A sessions. The local artists that STUFF represents offer art classes in an unlimited variety. And the store offers birthday parties, team-building classes, adult art parties, kids' art parties and much, much more.

Casey and Sloane

One of the most notable parts of this small but well loved family business is their commitment to the community. STUFF has an expansive program that supports local charities, schools and not-for-profit organizations. Sloane Simmons and Casey Simmons both serve on community organization boards of directors and have committed time, expertise and money to over a hundred charities in the Greater Kansas City area in the past fourteen years.

This small business has grown bigger and bigger since they first propped the door open - a daily habit and a welcoming way to enter the store. But, if you ask the sisters how they feel about getting bigger over the years, they answer, "We don’t think about bigger, we focus on 'people not product'. Being better every year is our goal."

is STUFF a gallery?

Casey and Sloane

When we established STUFF in 1997, we insisted on not being called a gallery. At that time, the term "art gallery" didn't fit. Yes, we represented fine artists and fine crafters from our region and beyond. But we weren't "stuffy" - pun intended. We aimed to be accessible, approachable, open every day, energetic, friendly, open-minded, hip, current, and fashionable, and we wanted to be able to laugh at ourselves. At that time, "gallery" didn't describe STUFF.

Today, Kansas City - as most cities in the United States - is filled with the new generation of art galleries. In Kansas City, we have First Friday gallery openings every month. The Crossroads Art District is evolving and growing. Downtown is hopping, and there are unique galleries sprinkled throughout our fantastic city. It almost seems like there is gallery on every corner in America.

Sloane and Casey

STUFF has most definitely evolved, too. But our roots, our mission, and our vision have remained the same - to make art accessible to anyone and everyone, every day.

We have grown to be an award-winning business - proud to have been nominated for eight consecutive years as being one of the top galleries and stores in America that feature Fine American Craft, and honored as one of Kansas City's Top 25 Small Businesses. It's humbling, because STUFF doesn't strive for awards. We strive to run a business that is judged on merits beyond financial success.

We believe you can be outstanding and professional and still have a sense of humor - still be approachable, open-minded, hip, current, fashionable, energetic, and open every day.

So...is STUFF an art gallery? Damned skippy it is! And it is a store, an experience, a family of artists, a team of great staff, a local boutique, a destination shop, a hangout, and a place to smile, laugh and celebrate.

Open 358 days a year in Kansas City. Open 365 days a year online. Join us.

And always pursue good stuff.

STUFF is Kansas City's favorite
fine art store and American craft gallery.

pursue good stuff

Over 15 years ago, we - Casey Simmons and Sloane Simmons - had a dream. We opened a small store in Kansas City, Missouri, and began our journey. We had a vision for our lives and, at the same time, a vision for our community and for the great big world: to always PURSUE GOOD STUFF. We chose to share our vision with everyone we met, and we did just that.

That dream continues to grow and evolve. We have learned much along the way. We have shared both triumphs and bumps in the road with everyone. We have met incredible people. We have learned that no one is passive and that each person has the power to pursue good. We believe waiting for life to come to you will probably leave you waiting a long time.  So get off your porch and get in the game.

We welcome you to pursue good stuff with us.

PURSUE GOOD STUFF

PURSUE GOOD ART

PURSUE GOOD FOOD

PURSUE GOOD FUN

PURSUE GOOD HEALTH

PURSUE GOOD PLACES

PURSUE GOOD PEOPLE

PURSUE GOOD CAUSES

This is a life journey.

- Casey & Sloane
